Reversing the Impacts of Hydroclimatic Extremes
The goal of the project is to empower communities disproportionately impacted by hydroclimatic extremes to achieve resilience through collaborative research and justice-focused adaptation strategies.
Through this research, the team hopes to mitigate the disproportionate impacts of climate-induced water hazards by:
- Advancing interdisciplinary research
- Fostering inclusive collaboration
- Co-developing innovative tools and strategies that empower vulnerable communities in the U.S. Gulf regions
Climate change intensifies the frequency of extreme events, exacerbating the risk of hazards such as floods, leading to economic instability, social trauma, and harm to health.
The U.S. National Science Foundation’s EPSCoR program focuses on strengthening STEM capabilities by investing in talent development and local infrastructure. The program positions the regions as key contributors to both national and global STEM research.
